Flying Sparrows Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 4, 2026

Flying Sparrows ("the extension," "we," "us") is a Chrome browser extension that displays animated sparrow birds flying across a browser tab, purely as a visual decoration. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension does and does not access, use, or share.

1. Data Collection

Flying Sparrows does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personally identifiable information (name, address, email, age, etc.), health information, financial or payment information, authentication information, personal communications, location data, web browsing history, user activity, or website content.

The extension has no analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party services of any kind.

2. What the Extension Actually Stores

The only piece of information the extension stores is a single boolean preference: whether the sparrow animation toggle is switched on or off. This value is saved locally using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API, which is stored entirely within your own Google Chrome sync account (if you're signed into Chrome), the same way Chrome syncs your bookmarks or settings.

This preference is never sent to any server operated by us or any third party, and is not linked to your identity, browsing activity, or any other data.

3. Permissions Used

PermissionPurpose
storageSaves your on/off toggle preference so it persists between sessions.
activeTabLets the extension identify the tab you're currently viewing, only at the moment you click the toolbar icon.
scriptingInjects the sparrow animation into the current tab, only in direct response to your click on the toggle, never automatically, and never on page load.

The extension does not request access to your browsing history, all-websites host permissions, or any data beyond the single active tab you explicitly interact with.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer any user data to third parties. There is no user data collected in the first place to share.

5. Data Security

Because no personal or browsing data is collected or transmitted off your device, there is no server-side data for us to secure or that could be exposed in a breach. The single stored preference lives within Chrome's own sync infrastructure, governed by Google's own security and privacy practices.

6. Children's Privacy

Flying Sparrows does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the extension collects no personal data at all, it does not distinguish between users of any age.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this document will change. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
