Kuldhara sits about 18 km from Jaisalmer. Its Paliwal Brahmin residents left overnight in the early 19th century and never came back, and no one agrees on why. The houses still line the old lanes, so you can walk among them, see how they were built, and hear the stories locals tell about the place. Bring a camera, especially near golden hour.
