Two sites sit close together just north of Jaisalmer. Maharawal Akhai Singh built Amar Sagar around a lake, with a palace and temples that stay quiet through most of the day. Badabagh, the Big Garden, holds the cenotaphs of the Bhatti rulers, rows of carved sandstone chhatris set among the greenery. Both reward a slow walk and soft afternoon light.
