Gadisar Lake was dug by hand centuries ago as the city's only water source, ringed by temples and stone ghats. It stays quiet, and it photographs well in the morning light. From there you head to Vyas Chhatri, a cluster of cenotaphs built for the sage Vyas, where the carved sandstone catches the low sun and the view opens over the whole city. Time it for sunset.
